Walker Witt is the CEO and General Manager of Black HIlls Electric Cooperative. Witt, who owned a private law practice in Custer, began handling the cooperative’s legal affairs in 1995. In 2004, he was hired full-time as the co-op’s vice president of office services and legal counsel, a position he was in for 10 years. He has served as the cooperative's CEO since 2014.
Witt grew up in Custer and graduated from the University of South Dakota School of Law. He practiced law in Custer with Todd Hauge, who was Black Hills Electric’s legal council before selling his practice to Witt.
Witt and his wife, Jean, have three adult sons. He has coached basketball, and currently coaches track and cross country and is very active in the community.
